The professor was really neat. First she gave each student a white watercolor paper (card stock) along with a fine point sharpie marker. Then she asked us to draw a cactus. she turned on like native american tribal music while we were drawing. after we were finished drawing, she took away our markers and handed us some different colored chalk. she asked us to color at least three different colors for each element (sky, mountain, cactus). For example: for the mountain I used orange, yellow, and brown. then she gave us a q-tip and asked us to blend the colors with several different q-tips... then you want to get a can of hair spray and spray the paper gently and ta-da!! this is my final product...
learning goal/objective: students learn about the ecosystem of the desert including the climate, plants, and animals that dwell in this biome. We focused on saguaro cactus and how it is home to many animals for food and shelter. This art work was created by using chalk pastels utilizing pattern, form, and linear perspective.
